OneBeat Comes to NYC

Last year, Bang on a Can’s technology-based musical outreach program Found Sound Nation won a big grant to partner with the US Department of State to create a revolutionary residency program called OneBeat. OneBeat crosses boundaries of nationality, culture and ethnicity to create new sounds and international musical friendships that prove to the world that people of all origins can work peacefully together.

And now, after a month of residency and touring OneBeat comes to New York City for its final two shows! Participants in this cultural exchange program have formed small collaborative ensembles that improvise across genres, reinvent traditional tunes, compose original work, and record in the state-of-the-art OneBeat mobile studio.  On October 5 & 6, OneBeat arrives in Brooklyn for two very special shows featuring the program fellows joined by a host of internationally acclaimed guests: Friday, October 5 at Roulette happens in Downtown Brooklyn with Jolie Holland, Dave Douglas, Matt Garrison, Brandon Seabrook, and more; Saturday, October 6 at The Autumn Bowl takes place in a huge raw factory space in Greenpoint with Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Blitz the Ambassador, Jolie Holland, Sam Hillmer, and more.
