Look For NYC Marathon To Return In 2017!!
Since 1987, the Bang on a Can Marathon has been held in many NYC venues — from its start at Exit Art Gallery to the RAPP Arts Center, to years at La Mama, Town Hall, The Kitchen, New York Society for Ethical Culture, Lincoln Center, the Henry Street Settlement, Symphony Space, BAM, and most recently, the Winter Garden. We have had a wonderful 10 years presenting the Marathon at the Winter Garden, but this festival-scale production is no longer the right match for the newly renovated space and we will not be holding the Marathon there this summer. Bang on a Can is grateful for the venue’s many years of support and looks forward to collaborating on other projects with them in the future. We’re super excited to re-imagine this signature event and we’re planning a massive, celebratory 30th Anniversary Marathon for spring 2017 — details to be announced soon!
Meanwhile, we are inviting all New Yorkers and fans near and far to come to the 2016 Bang on a Can Marathon at MASS MoCA this summer on July 30, featuring guest artist-in-residence John Luther Adams. Check back about a chartered bus from NYC to North Adams for the event!
