Kate Moore Rose of roses, flower of flowers (world premiere) + selected works, performed by Ensemble Offspring

Kate Moore is an internationally acclaimed Australian composer based in Amsterdam known for her original blend of instrumental and electroacoustic elements in her works. This concert celebrates her long relationship with Sydney’s musical mavericks Ensemble Offspring, who celebrate their 30th birthday in 2025. They perform works written for them over the years including Fern (2012), Blackbird Song (2018) and Joyful Melodies (2024) plus the epic violin solo Synaesthesia Suite (2014). Her new quartet for alto flute, bass clarinet, violin and percussion which premiered at Long Play, Rose of roses, flower of flowers (world premiere) is inspired by the ‘cantigas de Santa Maria’ a collection of 13th century songs commissioned by Alfonso X, it is a modern day cantiga. Intoxicated by the aroma of the rose, the nightingale, pierced with a thorn, sings itself to death.
